How It Begins
The game opens with a short cut-scene describing how you wake up in your hotel room, at first wondering where you are, and soon realising you have no idea who you are either. The game then says:-
Hotel Room What's a person to do in this situation? What YOU do is...
This is followed by the first command prompt. After some preamble related to your appearance, it quickly becomes apparent that your first task is to find some clothes. The long term objective is, of course, to recover your memory.
- The game world covers a large portion of New York, with hundreds of locations.
- The game is quite simulationist - the main character's need for money, food and sleep play a large part in the game.
- The game's prose has all the hallmarks of Disch's trademark cynical humour.
