An early interactive fiction design system created by Mark J. Welch in 1985. In 1987, David Malmberg made a number of improvements to the Generic Adventure Game System (GAGS) and renamed the resulting system the Adventure Game Toolkit (AGT).

GAGS games can generally be interpreted through AGT interpreters.
