Changed "scots gaelic" to "Scots" - "grue" is a word in the Scots language (related to English), not Scots Gaelic (related to Irish). It probably has Scandinavian origins with similar words in Swedish, Norwegian and Danish. VivDunstan - 22 Nov 2002
