A first person perspective is one where the messages are those of the player character referring to themselves in first person, rather than the usual second person. For example:
>EAT APPLE I have eaten the apple and found it quite to my liking. or: I eat the apple and find it quite to my liking.
as opposed to:
You eat the apple and find it quite to your liking.
