Bare link to a message on rgif, using any of a variety of identifiers. (See Template:Rgifmsg for a less raw version.)
Specify one (or more) of msgid=, cmid=, or hexid=. See Template:Newsgroup link for what these mean.
Example with message-ID:

An unnamed positional parameter is treated the same as hexid=, for backward compatibility with old versions of this template. This should not be used in new wikitext.
