How to Play with Sound
This game was designed to be played with sound, but most Z-code interpreters don't support sound.
- Browser: you can play in-browser with Infocom Frotz
- Windows: You can use Windows Frotz
- macOS: You can use Spatterlight
To play, download the latest version from The Obsessively Complete Infocom Catalog, sherlock-r26-s880127.z5. You'll then need to download its sound files separately as Sherlock.blb from the IF Archive.
Place both files in the same folder, and rename Sherlock.blb to sherlock-r26-s880127.blb. (The name of the blb should match the name of your z5 file.) Then, open the Z5 file in your interpreter.
To test sound, BLOW THE WHISTLE twice. You should hear the sound of a horse approaching.
