Wall safes are often hidden behind paintings hung on the wall, particularly behind grim-looking portraits of people who own (or used to own) the mansion that the PC is exploring.

Safes may be locked either with a key or with a combination dial lock.

If you can't unlock a safe by normal means, consider using an explosive to force it open.
