How it begins
You are a simple spaceship-boy, carrying nothing. The crew has beamed down to the planet, leaving just you and Jack (the cook) on board, so you decided to visit the starship's Nursery, currently set to simulate "The African Veldt". But something's wrong: the lions somehow sense your presence and the shimmering portal that leads back out isn't working! As the dominant lion's fangs rip through your throat, the lions vanish and the portal opens properly.
What a rush! Back in the lab, Jack teases you on your fright and enters the portal himself. Moments later, the whole ship rocks and the comm system spits out a printout from Scotty before it dies. An ion tempest has disrupted the teleportation system, trapping everyone on the planet. Scotty's given you the formula to attempt a manual override, but you don't understand it!
