The Hint Library or THL was a format and associated software for giving gradual hints for interactive fiction works, developed by Stefan Meier.
Hints were distributed in a binary format (.thl), capable of supporting multimedia. The reader/creator software ran on Windows 95/NT, in German and English versions.
Most of the hints available in this format were conversions of Infocom's Invisiclues; there were also hints for So Far (contributed by Lucian P. Smith) and the graphical game Star Trek: The Next Generation – A Final Unity.
