As the vampire Lord Sinister, help a little girl find her dad—but avoid being staked by the FVH (Fearless Vampire Hunters)!

How it begins

The game begins with a menu where you may read the game's introduction, its special commands, its version history and statistics, and so on. Option 1 begins the game proper at Part 1: A Little Guidance.

You are Hubert Bumble, a middle-aged, slightly overweight vampire who prefers to be called Lord Sinister. You are wearing your vampire cape and your watch, and carrying some mints. You are waiting in the waiting room of your marriage guidance counsellor, Maria Frostwich. Also here are three other clients (Steve, Jo and Andy), the receptionist, the door out, and the door into the counselling room.

You aren't married, but you do need counselling. In a few minutes, you'll be called into the office, where Maria will review your situation and will suggest that you get a job.

Notable features

  • The game's story is divided into chapters.
  • Special commands:
    • COFF and CON disables and enables screen clearing. The game recommends that this feature is left enabled.
    • INC FONT and DEC FONT increases and decreases the font sizes by one point respectively (ADRIFT Runner only).
    • POWERS lists and details the following vampiric abilities:
      • CHANGE lets you shapechange into a bat.
      • HYPNOTISE [npc] lets you convince someone to do something they wouldn't normally do.
      • FANG [npc] lets you bite someone's neck and drink their blood.
    • SCORE displays your score (out of 100), your rank (you begin as a Vampiric Wannabe), and your current status (dead).
