Versions
Initial Release
Date: 23 April 2005
The initial release was to a mailing list dedicated to exchanging programming puzzles and trying novel or absurd solutions. It was released under Sam Zoy's "WTFPL" licence, as it was originally only shared with friends.
Bugfix Release
Date: 25 April 2005
The 25 April release added automatic item listing when displaying the player's location.
BSD/0 Relicensing Release
Date: 11 March 2025
Due to problems with the WTFPL and the apparent longevity of the Cloak of Darkness collection, the copyright claim was updated to use the permissive "Zero-Clause BSD" licence.
The code is functionally identical to the 25 April 2005 Bugfix Release.
