How it begins
You might be anyone, carrying a large canvas bag and a skeleton key. You have inherited a large house called Gharston Hall in a remote part of the English countryside. As you start to look the place over, you realize that your great aunt Agatha was more wealthy than you thought.
When you return to the entrance hall, you are surprised to see a smartly-dressed young man who introduces himself as a Mr. Brookes from Perfidia Property. The look of him makes your skin crawl. He claims that Agatha sold the house to them, that they plan to develop a hotel and leisure complex on the site, and that he'd appreciate you vacating the Hall by tonight. He hands you a copy of the purchase documents and a scale model of the proposed complex, and you can't help but sense something fishy is going on.
