How it begins
You're a married man, carrying a burned note and a closed jack-o-lantern on a foggy street in New York City at night. By the light of the flickering street lamp, you can see an apartment to the west, a dark alley to the south, and streets to the north and east.
You're looking for Neil deMause's apartment, but you're scared half to death because the note said your wife, Sarah, will be delayed meeting you there—permanently.
