How it begins

As his people are fighting a hopeless battle against the Machines around the planet Geryon 5, a godlike being uses their sacrifice to slip through the Machines' orbital defences and infiltrate the planet. There, deep in the central control tower, he finds an ancient computer workstation, and starts hacking it in an attempt to end the war. In this decisive moment, he remembers his past. His story began ages ago...

You are PFC Solomon "Wiseguy" Shepard of the Andarian Rifles, a minor mercenary company. Your squad is assigned to patrol duty on a newly settled asteroid on the edge of charted space. Right now, you are spending a free evening in the Grand Curve Bar. Khemgi, the alien bartender, is preparing your next drink.
