Zilch (the ZIL Compiler Hack) was the name of the compiler that Infocom used to compile ZIL source code into Z-code story files, targeting the Z-machine. Zilch was created by Marc Blank.
Zilch was an internal Infocom tool, and thus never made public, but an early version of Zilch (implemented in MDL) and ZAP has emerged:
- ZIL at The Obsessively Complete Infocom Catalog links to many sources and documents.
- Roman Bartke's ZILCH How-to describes getting this version up and running again.
