How it begins

WARNING: Leadlight contains violence and gore.

The game opens with a warning about violent and disturbing content, and indicates that Leadlight is recommended for mature gamers only.

A front-end menu lets players start a new game, manage saved games, read the credits or change an alert preference.

The player's character in Leadlight is Belinda Nettle, a 15-year-old boarding student at Linville Girls High School in the Blue Mountains, Australia. The introduction describes Belinda's background and her school life.

When the game begins, Belinda awakens in the student library at night. Another student, Charlotte, is sitting across the desk from Belinda, and Belinda realises that Charlotte is dead. Belinda arms herself against attackers and begins to explore the school and its grounds to try to discover what is happening at Linville.

Notable features

  • When the player must HIDE from danger, a warning paragraph appears, signalled by two asterisks **
  • On an Apple IIGS, hide alerts and game status are also indicated by the screen border changing colour.
  • The player's score has four major components: Weapons Found, Secrets Found, The Slain and Deathtraps Hit
  • Episode 267 of Eamon.
