How it begins

The player is warned that the game involves institutional mistreatment of children.

You are Olivia, "an attractive, capable woman with a sunny disposition, aged 20-35", in the Junior House of the Orphanorium you administer. You are carrying Athaliah Hertford's Manual of Childcare, The Compleat Orphanmaster, Fobberfish of Hackney's catalogue, a gruel order form and a dinner bell. Your institutional resources include Polychromatic Lung's Fairy Tales and some rusty tricycles, and a treasury of 50 coins.

Your goal is to raise orphans to be productive citizens, and make a profit doing so.
